LOS ROQUES ARCHIPELAGO, LOS ROQUES NATIONAL PARK.
In the Caribbean Sea, around 176 Km north of Caracas (the capital of Venezuela)
is situated the National Park of the Archipelago of Los Roques. One of the
biggest National Marine Parks of the Caribbean, with a very special flora and
fauna, white beaches and crystal clear turquoise warm water, born with a natural
wealth above and under water, no crime with a warm and friendly population.

In the Island of Gran Roques lives around a 1500 people permanent, spread around
a 110 families, where most is ancestors of fishermen that arrived in the
beginning of the 19th. century from the Island of Margarita. Today they still
use the old way of fishing and mainly they catch Lobsters, King Conch and
Spanish Mackerel. You will find more than 64 live
posadas (lodges) in los Roques all with less than 100 meters to the beach.

Los Roques is protected by a great Barrier reef that surrounds all of the
Islands and makes sailing safe and pleasant. You will not get seasick,

Los Roques Islands became a National Park in
1972 and is the biggest marine reserve archipelago in the world.
